LIFT 3.0: Beyond the hustle, building what lasts
A look back at LIFT 3.0 in London, Ontario, and why the work of building stronger businesses continues after the summit.

On August 8, 2026, LIFT 3.0 brought African and diaspora entrepreneurs, business leaders, community builders, and emerging founders together in London, Ontario. Hosted by FilAfrik at Western University, the summit centred on a clear theme: Beyond the Hustle, Building Businesses that Outlast Us.
That theme asks a useful question of every founder: what are we building that can keep growing beyond our own effort? A business needs energy to begin. It also needs relationships, clear decisions, and systems that can support its next stage.
Making room for founders
The LIFT Pitch Lab put six founders on stage to present businesses they had been developing and validating. FilAfrik’s recap recognised The Blank Room, Blessinglicious, and NATRL Collective as the first, second, and third-place winners, with Xenvia.io receiving the Audience Choice award.
A pitch is an opportunity to make a business understandable: the problem it solves, the people it serves, and the next step it is ready to take. For founders preparing their own pitch, those three questions are a practical place to start.

Turning a connection into a next step
Meeting someone is a beginning. Following up gives the conversation a direction. Share the resource you mentioned, make the introduction you offered, or arrange a focused conversation about a challenge you both understand.
For anyone carrying an idea home from an event, choose one action small enough to complete this week. A useful relationship grows through attention and follow-through.
The work continues
LIFT 3.0 is part of FilAfrik’s wider work across business support, media, events, and community. The next chapter belongs to the founders putting their ideas into practice and the people willing to build alongside them.
